Day 1: 14/03/24

U/17 Woman’s & Men’s Greco Roman, Results:

South Africa, won 6 medals on day 1.

We would like to congratulate all our wrestlers that participated today.

Mias Pienaar & Dominick Auon fought valiantly but unfortunately lost out on the top spot.

Day 2: 15/03/24

Has come to an end and it’s been raining medals in Egypt for the U/17 Women’s and Freestyle Men’s Team.

Three South African Wrestlers were crowned Continental Champions.

 

Medal Results:

Katelyn Swan won the gold medal in the 61kg division.

Markus Le Roux won the gold medal in the 65kg division

Elwin Jansen Van Vuuren won the gold medal in the 80kg division

Day 3: 16/03/24

U/20 Woman’s Wrestling and Greco Roman Men’s Results.

It was an amazing day for Team South Africa today we claimed another 7 medals.

The 3 Ladies who participated all claimed medals.

Chloe and Minette had some great matches, only losing in their Gold medal matches.

Ruben Van Wyk also claimed a silver medal, in the 87kg division.

It was a wonderful day on the mats for our team, each wrestler that participated did our nation proud.

 

Day 4:  17/03/24

Woman’s and Men’s Freestyle U/20 Competition has come to an end.

Bronze was the colour of the day, as 6 out of our 7 wrestlers claimed bronze medals.

The Men’s Team fought hard on the mats today, working tirelessly to medal in some thrilling close matches. We had some nail biters with Rohan Du Plessis and Corne Telleman, coming agonisingly close to the silver medal.

Unfortunately our Ladies could not win any matches, but they fought valiantly and we are very proud of them.

The U/20 Competition has come to an end and tomorrow the Senior Championship kick-off.

Day 5: 18/03/24

The Senior Woman’s Wrestling and Men’s Greco Roman African Championship took place today, and it was a tough day for Team South Africa.

Minette Kruger, wrestled exceptionally well only losing one match on her way to claim the bronze medal.

Minette adds the bronze to the silver she won in the U/20 division.

Unfortunately the Men’s team failed to win any matches today.

There were a few injuries sustained during the day but according to the reports we received all is in order.

Irrespective of how hard it was today, we are still proud of our team

 

Day 6: 19/03/24

The 2024, African Continental Championships in Alexandria, Egypt has come to an end.

The Woman’s Senior team and Men’s Freestyle team competed today.

Both teams wrestled very well and the team made us really proud.

Brendin Louw and Justin Van Zyl, both claimed bronze medals with impressive performances.

Upwards and onwards we go, next stop is the African and Oceania Olympic Qualifying event taking place from the 22-24 March here in Alexandria, Egypt.
